Editorial and Corrections Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026
These are the rules every page on this site follows. They apply to every brand in the same way.
Sourcing
- Every factual claim has a source you can check. Regulatory status comes from regulator databases (FDA 510(k), De Novo and MAUDE; Health Canada; the TGA; EU Safety Gate). Specs come from manufacturer documents. Legal matters come from court dockets and official notices.
- Primary sources come first. Where a regulator’s record and a news report disagree, we report the record and link to it.
- Unconfirmed claims are labelled “unverified”, or left out. We don’t fill gaps with estimates presented as facts.
- Every FDA number on this site is checked against the FDA database by script before a page is published and again whenever the page is updated.
Reviews
Every device is scored on the same seven-category rubric. Rankings come from the scores, never the other way round. No device is ranked or recommended before it has been scored.
News
We cover recalls, regulatory actions, legal cases and documented consumer complaints across the whole market, to one standard:
- Document-backed only. Every story links to a primary source: a recall notice, a warning letter, a court filing, a regulator database entry.
- Same standard for every brand. We don’t run campaigns for or against any company.
- Individual complaints are covered only when they’re public and verifiable. We link to the original post rather than reposting it.
- Right of reply. Before we publish a significant criticism of a company, we ask it for comment, give it a reasonable time to respond, and include its response. If it declines or doesn’t reply, we say so.
Personal information
We never publish personal information about anyone. That includes company owners, staff, customers and complainants. We report what businesses do, not who people are. We’ll remove any personal information that reaches the site, for example in a comment, as soon as we’re aware of it.
Medical content
Pages on depth, topicals, aftercare and safety are reviewed by a licensed professional and credited by name. Until a page has been reviewed, it says so and cites the clinical literature it relies on. Nothing on this site is medical advice. See our medical disclaimer.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and say so.
- Factual errors are corrected as soon as they’re confirmed. Significant corrections get a dated note at the foot of the page and an entry on our corrections log.
- Score changes caused by a correction are noted in the review’s update history.
- Minor fixes (typos, broken links, formatting) are made without a note.
To report an error, contact us with a source. Manufacturers are welcome to send documents such as clearance letters, spec sheets and warranty terms. We update a review when the evidence supports it. We don’t remove accurate, sourced information on request.
