Independent microneedling device reviews, checked against FDA records

We score every pen, roller, stamp and RF device on the same published rubric, and link every regulatory claim to the regulator’s own record. No brand pays for a score.

One rubric for every device

Seven categories, weighted and published. The scores decide the rankings.

Every claim sourced

FDA and Health Canada records, manufacturer documents and court filings, linked so you can check them.

No paid scores

Brands can't buy a review, a rating or a placement, and we don't accept free devices for coverage.

Kept up to date

Reviews are rechecked at least every six months, and straight away after a recall or a new clearance.

The complete guide to microneedling

What it does, what it doesn't, and what the evidence says.

Microneedling depth by area

Why depth matters more than the device, and where the face is thinnest.

Aftercare and topicals

What's safe on freshly needled skin, and what has caused granulomas.

No microneedling pen is FDA-cleared for home use

All 26 FDA clearances under the microneedling product code are for prescription use only, for specific indications, and often for specific skin types. Some of the most popular home pens share a brand name with a cleared professional model, but the clearance doesn’t cover them.

How we score devices

Every device gets a score out of 10 in seven categories, and the overall score is the weighted average. A device without FDA clearance can still score well, but its safety score is capped, and claims that misstate its status cost it more.
